Happy Anniversary One Year FeedTahoe

Celebrating One Year of FeedTahoe ๐Ÿ’š

One year ago, in early October 2024, Sean, Melissa, and Kele completed the very first food rescues through the FeedTahoe app. What started as a small, hopeful idea has grown into something truly powerful โ€” a community movement built on compassion, collaboration, and care.

In just one year, FeedTahoe has brought together food donors, volunteers, and nonprofits to create a ripple of impact across our region โ€” turning what could have been food waste into nourishment, connection, and shared purpose. Every rescue represents a story of kindness, teamwork, and the belief that good food should be shared, not thrown away.

This year also marked a major step forward for the program โ€” we added a full-time coordinator to help support operations, deepen relationships, and expand our reach. We are incredibly grateful to have Lily Summerville in this role. Her dedication, organization, and heart have helped FeedTahoe continue to grow and thrive.

Weโ€™re deeply grateful for every person whoโ€™s been part of this journey โ€” from our dedicated partners to the volunteers who show up rain or shine, and the donors who make this work possible. Your generosity has transformed what began as a simple mission into a thriving, life-changing program.

Thank you to everyone who participated and shared your experiences โ€” hearing your stories and memories has been such a beautiful reminder of why we do this work.

600 Rescues โ€” and a Whole Lot of Heart ๐Ÿฅ•

This October, we officially reached 600 food rescues!
Each one represents meals shared, waste prevented, and neighbors cared for โ€” and every single rescue was made possible because of you.

To our Food Donors โ€” thank you for trusting us with your surplus and helping ensure that good food feeds people, not landfills.
To our Volunteers โ€” you are the heartbeat of this program. Your time, energy, and kindness keep this mission alive every day.
And to our Nonprofit Partners and Supporters โ€” thank you for your commitment to building a stronger, more connected Tahoe community.

This milestone isnโ€™t just about numbers โ€” itโ€™s about the countless moments of generosity that brought us here. Together, weโ€™ve shown whatโ€™s possible when a community comes together with a shared purpose.
