500 Food Rescues with FeedTahoe!
Did you know that 1 in 5 people in Tahoe struggle with hunger? Meanwhile, 40% of our excess food goes to waste, creating unnecessary carbon emissions. Food belongs to people, not landfills! Thanks to FeedTahoe, we’ve been able to turn this around—rescuing meals, supporting our community, and hitting a major milestone that reflects the power of volunteers, partners, and neighbors coming together.
We are beyond thrilled to share that FeedTahoe has completed 500 food rescues! This achievement represents countless hours of effort, dedication, and community spirit, and it’s a moment to celebrate everyone who has made this possible. Every rescue means surplus food has been diverted from landfills and redirected to those who need it most in our Tahoe community.
First, we want to give a heartfelt thank you to our founders, Kele and Sean, for spearheading FeedTahoe and turning a vision for a more sustainable, nourished community into reality. Their leadership, passion, and commitment have been the driving force behind every rescue.
We also want to recognize Melissa, our former Executive Director, for her incredible coordination, tireless hard work, and dedication to making sure every rescue ran smoothly. Your attention to detail and commitment made a huge difference in creating a solid foundation for FeedTahoe’s success.
A warm welcome and big thanks go to Lily, our newest team member, for stepping in and taking the reins with energy, organization, and enthusiasm. Your coordination and leadership have helped FeedTahoe continue to thrive and expand our impact.
Most importantly, we are deeply grateful to our volunteers, community partners, and local nonprofits. It’s because of your time, energy, and generosity that we’ve been able to rescue 500 meals and counting. Your dedication ensures that surplus food in Tahoe doesn’t go to waste and instead nourishes our neighbors in need.
This milestone is a testament to the power of community. Together, we are reducing food waste, supporting local families, and building a more connected, resilient Tahoe. Here’s to the next 500 rescues—and all the lives we’ll continue to touch along the way!
