Join ReadingPals!

Help a young reader build skills, confidence, and a love of reading!

ReadingPals connects community volunteers with students at Tahoe Valley Elementary School who could benefit from extra reading practice and encouragement.

ReadingPals meet with students once a week during the school day to practice reading, build fluency, and provide consistent one-on-one or small-group support. No teaching experience is required. We provide training, materials, and ongoing support so you have everything you need to be a great ReadingPal.

2026/2027 Schedule

ReadingPals will take place primarily on Monday and Tuesday mornings and early afternoons, with some Wednesday opportunities available. Volunteers can select a consistent weekly time that works with their schedule.

Volunteer Training: Week of October 12 at Tahoe Valley Elementary
ReadingPals Begins: October 19, 2026

Most volunteers commit approximately one hour per week throughout the school year. Whether you're a high school student, college student, retiree, working professional, or simply someone who loves helping kids, we'd love to have you join us.

Being a ReadingPal is a simple way to make a meaningful difference. A little extra practice and encouragement each week can help a student become a stronger, more confident reader.
